USE CASES

App-Elles® aims to serve the safety needs of women, but its use meets the needs of anyone. Its features are helpful for victims, survivors or witnesses and for all kinds of situations and types of violence.

Make a journey, meeting or event safe

The SOS can be trigged ahead of the danger or threat. Don't wait for a situation to escalate or for a violence to happen. Organize your network of protectors as well as possible by sharing your fears with them, explaining to them why you are using this type of alert and what you expect of them in these situations. Some examples are:

  • The road you are on makes you feel uncomfortable,
  • You meet someone you know might be violent,
  • You regularly jog on a path with not much traffic,...

If you feel you are about to enter into a dangerous situation, don’t hesitate to trigger the alert and qualify it as a Prevention alert [Follow Me], that way your contacts will be notified immediately and will be able to support you in real time, ready to intervene at any time should the situation escalate. Thanks to the Walkie Talkie function [Push To Talk], you can talk to your protectors directly in app.

Improving the intervention of emergency services

Your protectors are people you have chosen and who have agreed to help you in case of danger. You know them and they know you personally. You have told them your reasons for using App-Elles®, they are aware of their roles and are ready to help you. By receiving an alert, they will be able to:

  • Call for help on your behalf or at the same time as you,
  • Provide accurate information about the situation and about yourself,
  • Decide to join you if the situation allows or requires it,...

In addition to the information they will be able to collect through the application, they will be able to transmit very precise information about you to emergency services: your name, your age, the exact address of your position, your state of health, the level of danger to the situation and/or the particular environment in which you find yourself. This level of detailed information that only your close contacts can know are essential for optimizing the means deployed by the emergency services to help you.

Report evidence of violence

All alerts are automatically recorded and saved on servers and on your phone from the first second of their triggering. You can also decide to launch alerts with the sole aim of recording an event or discussion that could lead to the perpetrator of malicious acts or recurrent violence being convicted:

  • Insults and slurs from an acquaintance,
  • Threats and blackmail from a relative,
  • Intimidation at work, street harassment,...

The first difficulty faced by a survivor who wishes to testify is to obtain the assurance that his word is recognized and that it is not questioned. By replaying or sharing the recordings of your alerts, App-Elles® helps you overcome this first obstacle. You can find your alert records and download them from your app in [Alert History]. The recordings can then be used as evidence within the work of a social or legal investigation.

Ask for a trusted companion or support

Some alerts will concern situations of moral distress, psychological or verbal violence, which do not always require the intervention of professionals or do not correspond to the criteria for intervention from the emergency services. For example:

  • You feel in real moral distress,
  • The person you are with shows signs of aggression,
  • You cannot call and you want to be contacted or reached,...

Triggering an alert will allow you to call on your trusted contacts to bring you support and comfort. Listening, support or mediation with a third party are made possible thanks to the proximity and intimacy of the network you have created.

Talk to professionals

Social protection and legal support systems make it possible to put an end to certain situations. Specialized medical and psychological care makes it possible to link the effects of psychotrauma to violence, to understand them, to control them and to escape from them. The contacts identified by the application allow you to:

  • Receive support and advice from charities,
  • Make an appointment with social, medical and legal services,
  • Report violence, dangerous behavior,...

Find information for you or a close one

As a relative or witness, the application also gives you the keys to act. You can advise and support a survivor by calling a professional for her, by identifying and sharing an address from the interactive map, by consulting advice sheets and referenced information sites:

  • Help a friend to find an association, an aid center,
  • How to apply first aid,
  • Detect behavior requiring intervention,...
